How many times have you already tried to structure their lives? And how many times have you come? For now, though, I'll use it for casual writing, but will probably stick to more feature complete apps for serious note-taking. With a few improvements, it would become my note-taking app of choice. For a 1.0.x release, Thoughts is a solid app. I've used many other note-taking / journal apps such as MacJournal and Circus Ponies Notebook, both of which have their own strengths, but I prefer Thoughts' friendly interface to both of them. Lists that can be re-ordered on the fly would be great for outlines. Whole book export to formats other than. Import? I can't seem to find it in the menus. Don't get me wrong it's off to a great start, but I hope to see some "must-have" features added in the future, such as: However, it is admittedly stark in terms of features, as the app is, at this point, more like a prettified version of TextEdit with some basic entry organization added in. The interface is polished and pleasant, and the little touches like the cover graphic and animated page turns make for a nice writing environment that's welcoming enough even for someone who's as blank-page-phobic as I am. I got this recently as part of the Macbuzzer bundle, and so far I like it a lot. I will buy but have one more question…do I have to buy two licenses for one person on two machines? I will with hold a 5 rating until a few more features are added. However the devs response was quick and helpful. I contacted the dev to ask about the programs ability to sync with dropbox (as some database programs do not do well over the long run when cloud syncing). I can easily and quickly start a notebook about whatever I am working on and just delete it when I am finished. The trick here is the ease of keeping track of your bits of info and the separate notebooks make organizing/finding the info very easier than spending lots of time tagging for me. I say that because CPN is the best for structured and research notes but not for right now unimportant to anyone but me notes, like gathering shopping comparisons or grabbing directions from a web site that I will erase once used. CPN has not kept up for the casual user (some software devs are good at keeping the app simple while making it very powerful…CPN is not one of them). When I want to jot down a quick note for later, or grab a bit of info to use later I don't want to have to figure out the program or remember how to utilize some overly complicated process. I agree with a previous poster who says this has the makings of a great app. Yes it does lack some of the features of a CPN or Devonthink Pro but IMHO that might just be what makes it better. I like others here have used Circus Ponies notebook and all the others (and many of them are good for more complicated or specific notes needs) but Thoughts is easier to work with. I love the clean sleek UI and the ease of access for quick notes, etc. This app is great and I have only been trying it for a few days.
